EGGA sector Environmental Product Declaration “Batch Hot Dip Galvanizing of Steel Products to EN ISO 1461: Sector EPD Based on an Average Product” (2026)
The declared unit of this EPD is ‘1 year of protection by galvanizing to EN ISO 1461 of 1m x 1m steel plate of 8mm thickness’, calculated on the basis of a life span of 63 years. It is important to understand this unit when interpreting the results. Extrapolations for other purposes of the data contained in this EPD should be made with consultation with EGGA. A life cycle inventory data set is available for justifiable purposes.
Galvanized Steel and Sustainable Construction: Solutions for a Circular Economy
EGGA has launched a new publication - ‘Galvanized Steel and Sustainable Construction: Solutions for a Circular Economy’ to explain the contribution that galvanized steel can make to achieving the goals of circular construction – combining durability, robustness, reuse and recycling to ensure that steel structures can be designed for multiple life cycles without need for maintenance.
Galvanizing and Sustainable Construction: A Specifiers Guide
EGGA has collaborated with Professor Tom Woolley – a well-known architect and environmental researcher – to publish ‘Galvanizing and Sustainable Construction: A Specifiers Guide’. This comprehensive book explains the economic, social and environmental aspects of batch galvanizing in the context of sustainable building. The publication is also available in other European languages.
